When Someone Helps Carry the Burden

For families around Kimelok, sponsorship answers one of the heaviest questions a parent carries.

“Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

— Galatians 6:2 (NIV)

What the Land Can Give

For families living around Kimelok in rural Narok County, providing for children often depends on what the land and livestock can produce. Parents work hard, raising cattle, farming small pieces of land, and taking whatever work may be available. But when the rains do not come, grazing becomes difficult and crops suffer. When disease moves through the cattle, an animal that represents food, income, and security can quickly be lost.

In those seasons, a family may find itself making difficult choices: food for today, medicine for an animal, or school fees so a child can remain in class.

A Different Kind of Hope

This is where child sponsorship brings a different kind of hope. When someone sponsors a child through Helping Kenya Kids, part of the burden that family has been carrying is shared. School fees, uniforms, books, learning materials, and meals at school no longer rest entirely on the shoulders of parents who may already be struggling to feed their household.

Sponsorship does not remove every difficulty a family faces, but it can bring tremendous relief. A mother or father can know that even during a difficult season, their child can still put on a uniform, go to school, receive food, and continue learning.

They are not carrying everything alone.

And sometimes that is the greatest gift sponsorship gives a family—not simply what has been provided, but the knowledge that they are not carrying everything alone. Someone they may have never met has chosen to stand with their child and share part of the responsibility for that child's future.

There is still cattle to care for, food to find, crops to grow, and another season of rain to pray for. But one of the heaviest questions has become a little lighter: How will we keep our child in school?

Through sponsorship, another person has quietly answered, “We will help you.”

Pray With Us

For the families who carry heavy loads

Pray for the parents around Kimelok as they care for their children through uncertain seasons of rain, harvest, and herds. Ask God to send more people willing to help carry the burden, and thank Him for every sponsor who has already quietly said, “We will help you.”
